Who are the marketing thought leaders? Okay, there are way more than five. I thought it would be find to do a round up of some of the most interesting people in marketing. Of course a lot of these names are well known, but I hope to introduce you to some you haven’t met just yet.
Marketing is a thriving field and there are some great boutique agencies out there that haven’t blown up yet. As well as some hardworking people behind brands whose names you never hear. I think this will be a great series.
5 Marketing Leaders Making a Difference
- Ian Wolfman
- Lisa Barone
- Scott Stratten
- Grace Boyle
- Dave Kerpen
I know what your thinking, but we aren’t talking about B Horror. When I was first inspired to take the leap into advertising it was because of presentations made by Ian Wolfman at a Digiday conference. Wolfman, CMO of IMC^2, showed in only a few minutes his expertise and I knew I had a marketing hero. His thought leadership is light years ahead of where most marketers are currently at. That is why I try to keep up to date with all the happenings with his agency.
Best Stuff:
Lisa Barone is one of the most popular gals around in my social media circles, but she is also one of my favorites. She is an inspiration when it comes to SEO thought leadership. She writes frequently for Outspoken Media and is their chief branding officer. Is she people like you & me, yep. She just wrote a lover letter to Pinterest! I follow her on Twitter @lisabarone .

Unmarketing is one of the most level headed agencies I have seen. Scott Stratten brings marketing down from it’s hype and focuses on what works and what distracts us. It Scott is a great filter for understanding what is going on in the industry and is also pushing boundaries with his business. I also appreciate his twitter insights @unmarketing) .
Best Stuff:
UnMarketing: Stop Marketing. Start Engaging.
I believe I have talked about Grace before, but she always inspires. I was first introduced to her while working on PowerEPlayers when she worked for Lijit. She recently took on a position with Kapost. Like many modern marketers she runs several blog, but my favorite is “Small Hands, Big Ideas”. No surprise that she works in content marketing.
